Water damage gets worse by the hour. Water wicks up drywall, soaks into subfloors and pads, and within a day or two the conditions for mold are in place. RapidRestore24 removes the water, dries the structure properly and repairs the damage for homes and businesses across metro Atlanta.

What causes most of the water damage we see

  • Burst or leaking pipes, including frozen pipes in a cold snap
  • Failed water heaters, washing machine hoses and supply lines
  • Toilet and drain overflows, including sewage backups
  • Storms, roof leaks and flooded basements
  • Leaks behind walls or under floors that go unnoticed for weeks

How we restore water damage

1. Stop the source and assess. We help shut off the water, check for electrical hazards, and work out what got wet and how far the water travelled. Water moves under baseboards and flooring, so the wet area is usually bigger than it looks.

2. Extract the water. First, we pump and extract standing water from floors, carpet and pad. Getting as much out as possible at this stage shortens drying time considerably.

3. Map the moisture. We use moisture meters and thermal imaging to find wet materials you cannot see, inside walls, under cabinets and in subfloors, and record the readings.

4. Remove what cannot be saved. Next, we remove wet drywall, soaked pad and swollen trim where needed so the structure can dry. We can also move out, clean and store furniture and belongings during the work.

5. Dry the structure. Then we set up air movers and dehumidifiers and check readings until materials are back to normal dry levels. We dry to a measured standard rather than by guesswork, which is what prevents mold and hidden rot later.

6. Repair. Once everything is dry we can handle the rebuild: drywall, paint, trim and flooring. So you are not left coordinating a second contractor.

Insurance

Sudden water damage, such as a burst pipe, is often covered by homeowners insurance. We photograph the damage and keep the moisture readings and drying records, which gives you clear documentation for your claim. Call your insurer early; most policies expect you to act promptly to limit further damage.

What you can do right now

  • Shut off the water at the main valve if the source is a pipe or appliance.
  • Turn off power to wet areas if you can do so safely.
  • Move valuables, electronics and documents off wet floors.
  • Take photos before anything is moved or thrown away.
  • Do not use a household vacuum on standing water.

What our water damage remediation covers

Every water damage remediation job starts with stopping the source, then extraction, drying and daily moisture readings until materials are back to normal. The EPA notes that wet materials should be dried within 24 to 48 hours to help prevent mold (EPA guide to mold and moisture). If the water came from a burst pipe or a sewage backup, the cleanup steps change, and we explain why before we start. See the full list of restoration services or contact us with photos of the damage.
